A Brief Look at Sapphires – Blue Sapphire Earrings

Blue sapphire earrings are a beautiful accessory, they are available in many styles, there is sure to be one style at least that will suit your face shape.  Sapphires are exquisitely precious and desirable gemstones put in earrings they frame the individuals face with the perfect charm and elegance, giving the wearer a certain extra something.

Sapphires come in a whole array of colors not just blue, although blue is the most highly favoured and sort after stone.  There is a wide variety of blue sapphire shades, the most famous is the corn blue sapphire known as the Ceylon sapphire.  The other colours of sapphire are yellow, green, pink, purple and orange, indecently the diamond also is a many coloured stone just like a sapphire, kinda makes it hard to tell the difference.  Well diamonds are made of carbon with traces of metals like iron and nickel, while sapphires are made from Aluminum Oxide, with traces of Chromium, Iron, and Titanium different quantities of these account for the different colours.

This makes it a little tricky for the layman to determine which kind of precious gemstone they have, as colour is the most obvious feature of a gemstone, and most frequently the diamond is popular as a clear white gemstone and the sapphire a blue one, a professional is the best person to investigate the atomic structure of the gemstone.

Sapphires are mined in the following countries Burma, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Thailand, India, Cambodia, Australia, Montana (USA), Tanzania, Nigeria and various African countries, each countries sapphires are of different qualities Burma, or Myanmar and Ceylon are considered the best sapphires, however all the other sapphires from all these countries have very precious and viable sapphires of the highest quality enough to be made into gorgeous blue sapphire earrings.

The Blue rays of light that sparkle through the blue sapphire is considered to have healing qualities especially for clarity of the the mind, sapphires are the birthstone of those born in September and when given by a significant other are said to be a symbol of fidelity.
